Yeah? [he's not entirely sure he understands, but he sort of does to a point.] I think when most people ask, they're looking for an honest answer. Even if the answer's "I don't know."
I don't know if I'd say people feel like they need to. What if people just want to? [he shrugs.] You're right, a lot of terrible things happened. And even if we don't all feel the same way about stuff it's never bad to look after others.
[mob...buddy...that's fair though and sora seems to notice there's some hesitation with that.]
Could be a couple of reasons. Maybe they decided it wasn't worth being mad about, or maybe they got angry about something else. [or maybe they realized mob is a child, but he does not say that.] A lot of people are pretty mad right now because of things that happened. Some might think it's hard to pick which thing to be more mad about.
The longer we're here, I think people are going to have an easier time saying what they think and not holding back. [for...better and worse.] But this early, we can't lose our focus and get mad at stuff that isn't as important.
[...he hums.] Can I ask you something? Did you use your stone on purpose today?
[he doesn't seem surprised, but it's nicer than assuming.]
We couldn't have known. [not really.] Maybe if we had time or if we knew him better, we could have figured things out but Kano was always fell of surprises. It just means it's now more important than ever to really try to get to know each other. Doesn't it?
I have, too. Some people are more willing than others, and some people keep fighting it. [he folds his hands behind his head to lean back against the wall.]
Yeah. Kano's a complicated kind of person. He usually tried to change the subject to talk about me, too. Sometimes I think he wanted to help but he didn't know how to say so.
[and at this, he pauses to study mob if only because he's interested in his opinion.] Why do you think he did what he did?
Someone was trying to help him and made a mistake. They used a gem to change his feelings, so he'd be nice during the trial. But he didn't know what was happening, and he got scared and angry.
[...hm. well that truly backfired, but he doesn't say so.]
They didn't tell him before it happened? That's...a pretty big thing to change without any kind of warning. [he's not unhinged in the way kano is, but he can imagine anybody would be scared.] But that means they told him now, right? He knows everything?
[...he has a feeling he knows who was responsible and he just kind of looks the other way. he does not see. he does not perceive. but he's also not entirely impressed.]
What a mess...[but he nods in agreement.] People's feelings are incredibly important. People should be able to feel the way that they're feeling without somebody messing with them. That's not fair. Even the bad feelings are still theirs.
[and people can't grow, change, or be understood if they can't even trust what they're feeling.]
[Good. Sora understands. He sighs a little in relief.]
I think so, too. You can't force someone to change if they aren't ready to. But. . . there are people who think powers will solve everything. If they don't know it doesn't work that way, then. . . I can't be too angry with them.
Maybe that's true where they're from. But we're in a whole other world now. [he seems to finally get something donald tried to instill in him for years.] When I was traveling to the other worlds, my friends used to tell me that we had to be careful not to interfere more than we had to in order to protect the world order. That meant not telling people about the other worlds or changing too much. Sometimes I think we have to treat this place the same way. We have to try to understand how this Realm works and not think other things we're used to will work the same way.
[but he's pretty sure mob understands that.] ...and we'll just have to remind everybody to think a little more carefully before we start using stuff on each other.
The Realm. . . seems so cruel, but maybe because we don't understand it and it doesn't understand us. It thinks only in patterns. So if we're cruel to each other, it won't ever understand a different way.
I think you might be on to something. I was going to try to talk to the leaders later and see what they thought. If there's a way to break the pattern if they really think the Realm isn't capable of its own thoughts.

[What do they mean by asking? What do they want him to say? He'll sit on the floor with him, though.]

Okay. I don't know. A lot of terrible things happened. Kano-san died and Ruler-san was nearly. . .
But I don't want others to feel they need to look after me.

[He leans back a little, looking at the ceiling.]
It's all right, if it's only that. But I wonder if others think they need to treat me carefully? [. . . ]
Vezda-san, Archer-san, and Cervantes-san were all angry with me. But they never said anything to me. They didn't yell or scold me at all.
no subject
Yeah...could be for a couple of different reasons. Have you thought about asking them?
no subject
[Sweating. Just the thought of that makes him anxious! But anyway.]
More than that, I just want to know why. If they're angry with me, why not scold me?
no subject

no subject
[Nodding. It had to be - you had to think intentionally about the other person to use it.]
But I did it before he tried to attack Ruler-san. If I'd expected something like that to happen. . .

[But yes, he agrees.]
no subject
Did you go see him last night?
no subject
But. . . we wound up talking about me, instead. He was always doing that. He wouldn't tell me much about himself, but he was always trying to help me.
I do understand better, why he did what he did at trial. I was angry at him for that, but it wasn't his fault.

[But. He doesn't look super impressed about it.]
I think. . . people's feelings are something that's very important.
