[ At some point they're both back in their room-- at which point, Dorothy, who looks a little tired, nonetheless clears her throat to get Shigeo to look at her. ]

Hey. Doing all right?

[He's come back fairly late, and he's planning to get settled in, but then he sees Dorothy.]

Mm. I was able to talk to Viridian-san. I think I understand it now.

[misstrust]

Understand it...?

[ A slow head-tilt. ] In what way?

The reasons why he had to hurt Hajime and Pikachu. The kind of person he is.

[That seemed to have been weighing on him - not being able to make sense of that.]

[misstrust]

Did he also think Hajime was competition?

[ She can't blame him; she'd been wondering that herself. ]

[exercisms]

I. . . don't know.

[That's not exactly what he meant; not motives, exactly.]

But he doesn't trust others, or understand their feelings.

[misstrust]

Ah... I did get the feeling he was a little-- stunted, in that regard.

[ And she frowns down at her hands. ] And he's still so young.

He's the same age as my brother.

[So, a year younger than he is.]

To do something like that, I thought he must have lived a very different life from mine.
