Jeanne is a good person, that much he knows, so he assumed she wouldn't have hurt Kano-san. But because Jeanne is a good person the fact that she might hurt Kano-san means that maybe he was a little mistaken in his assumptions.
Kano-san didn't deserve to be killed, but if he did kill someone, he might have been dangerous. He takes a moment to consider that and finds he doesn't actually agree with that, but he can understand it, a little.]

I'm trying to do better at understanding people, but sometimes the side people show me is. . . I've been confused this whole time, why so many people had negative views of Kano-san. He was never anything but kind to me, and tried to help.
No one person is the same because we all have different experiences which shape us, but we may relate to each other. How we respond to the others isn't the same.
